Bearing Witness to Deportation

Walking Meditation at Pease Gate (Route 33 and Grafton Road)

Fridays, 4-4:45pm

Walking meditation is a way for us to bear witness, and be in touch with the suffering of the deportations.

We generate the energy of care, love, and compassion, for those whose lives are destroyed through deportations, those being deported, their families, their communities, as well as the suffering of those who support the deportations, believing that deportations will somehow address their pain, their needs, offer them better access to jobs/services, or lessen competition.

We walk on this earth, with the energy of equanimity, openness, not taking sides, recognizing the pain of all, so that like the earth we may develop the capacity to embrace it all.  The earth embraces everything, turning it into compost which will nurture the flowers in the spring.

We all have views and preferences.  When we walk, bearing witness with compassion, freedom, and solidity, we create a space in our hearts as well as in those around us.  That space allows our divisions, and polarization to dissolve and, over time, heal.

During walking meditation we try to just make space to care for all.  Our walking offers us an alternative to anger, frustration, grief, or hate, allowing us to connect with love and care.

Walking meditation instructions will be offered at the start of each session, and a short circle, sharing insights and songs will follow the walking session.  Those who prefer to sit in witness are welcome to do so and bring a cushion or a chair.

Join us every Friday at 4pm at the junction of Route 33/Greenland Road and Grafton Road
